Pole Barns & Post-Frame Buildings
Built with the Same Thoughtful Approach as Our Custom Homes
At Homes & Shomes , our primary focus is custom shop-homes and stick-built residential projects. While our shop-homes and custom homes are built using traditional stick-framing methods, we do also offer pole barn and post-frame buildings for clients who are looking for a well-built, thoughtfully planned structure and want the backing of an experienced construction team.
We don’t treat pole barns as one-size-fits-all kits or quick-turn agricultural sheds. When we take on a pole barn project, it’s approached with the same attention to planning, structure, and long-term durability that we bring to our custom builds.
When It’s time to get a pole barn
Pole barns can be a practical solution for storage buildings, workshops, hobby spaces, or future-use structures. For the right project, post-frame construction offers efficiency and flexibility while still allowing for customization in size, layout, doors, and finishes.

What types of pole barns do you build?
We build custom pole barns for a wide range of uses, including agricultural storage, equipment sheds, workshops, garages, livestock shelters, and barndominiums. Whether you need a simple storage building or a fully finished structure, we can design a pole barn to fit your needs.
Can I customize the size and layout of my pole barn?
Absolutely. Every pole barn we build is fully customizable — from overall dimensions and ceiling height to door placement, siding, roofing, and interior layout. We can also add features like lean-tos, insulated walls, concrete floors, and ventilation systems.
Are your pole barns designed for North Dakota weather?
Yes. Our pole barns are engineered to handle North Dakota’s demanding climate, including heavy snow loads, strong winds, and extreme temperature swings. We use durable materials and proper structural design to ensure long-term strength and performance year-round.
How long does it take to build a pole barn?
Project timelines vary based on size and complexity. Design and planning typically take a few weeks, while construction often ranges from 2 to 5 months. We’ll provide a clear timeline once your design is finalized.
